LEADING DESIGN & CREATION OF MCDONALD’S UK SOCIAL CONTENT.

McDONALD’S UK.

I led the team responsible for the creation of McDonald’s UK ‘always-on’ social content, across their platforms (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter). No two ‘briefs’ were the same, with content output including everything from stills, to video, to stop motion.

FOODLES.

Inspired by the work of illustrators such as Christoph Niemann,
we created a series of posts dubbed “Foodles” capturing the fun of ‘playing with your leftovers’

ANIMATED GIFS.

We created a series of highly sharable pun-a-licious animated gifs to hero core McDonald’s products. The day I briefed in to ‘make a milkshake twerk’ remains a career highlight.

During Drum’s tenure on the account we also launched their Instagram channel. I was responsible for setting the visual tone of the channel and defining the design direction across the platform.

LAUNCHING ON INSTAGRAM.

FOR THE FANS.

We created ‘collectables’ for our fans, such as “Wallpaper Wednesdays” on Instagram Stories.

GOING VIRAL.

Our work on the account hit the holy grail, going viral, clocking up massive numbers and garnering coverage across the interwebs. Plus a few accolades along the way, including Best Use of Content, Best Use of Facebook (The Drum Content Awards 2018).

FROM SOCIAL TO OUTDOOR.

Thanks to the success of our social content we were invited to expand some of our content onto digital out-of-home sites, including ‘Pride’ and Halloween amongst others. Creative ran on roadside, TFL and high street locations across the UK.

Posts covered the gammut of animation styles, from vector to stop motion to paper craft.
